Indeed, western medicine can be risky. But alternative medicines are not usually backed by any kind of science. Which is not to say that science does not study nature and plants in relation to human health. Aspirin was discovered in the bark of a type of tree.

But with such concrete science backing western medicine and next to no science behind alternative medicine, why should I believe it’s effective?

I am sick of the sugar cravings and weight gain, and would like to try alternative medicine or herbal remedies if possible. I am currently taking an anti-depressant and a mood stabilizer (Seroquel), and it seems to help, but the effectiveness is short lived, and then I have to increase the dosage again.

I’m just now getting interested in alternative medicine forms, but I really know nothing at all. What are some websites that are reputable (no bogus info or spamming) that contain lists of ailments and how to alleve them? Thanks!
